Dominar   Registered Member #1 Joined: Fri Sep 30 2005, 12:39AMLocation: Melbourne, Australia Posts: 8 | With the massive amount of technology we (well, myself at least) carry around on our person everyday; it occured to me that if I were walking along alone in the park one night - listening to whatever audio book I have in at the time and were suddenly teleported onto a low earth orbiting alien craft, would I have the nessessary data on my person to inform the beings I encounter that the human race is a spieces worthy of forming a peacefull relationship with? The quick and simple answer is no. I carry around the tomeraider version of the wikipedia, which is a vast amount of textual gold as far as human knowledge is concerned; but i'd be assuming an encounter such as this would be prone to language barriers. We communicate with animals and humans who do not speak our language with visual aural aids. Thats the basis of this project. To fit as much relevant sound, video and imagery as possible on current technology. ETIK stands for Extra-Terrestrial Information Kit. This project will be know by this name untill a better one is thought of or the end of time arrives. The idea here is to create as many unbiased amabassadors for the human race as possible, using whatever technology they have on their person at the time. My incarnation of the project is involving two pieces. My i-mate jasjar as a viewer/player and a 2GB SD flash card will serve as my ETIK Disk. Not everyone has or wants that kind of data storage or viewing capabilites, so the project will enable people carrying iPods to out of date mobile phones to participate.
